Well done to everyone who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge!

Each year the Summer Reading Challenge has a new theme. For 2023, The Reading Agency is teaming up with Youth Sport Trust for ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ a sports and games themed Challenge that will encourage play and participation – however that best suits children taking part.

Children are encouraged to keep their minds and bodies active over the summer break by taking part. The characters – brought to life by children’s author and illustrator Loretta Schauer – navigate a fictional summer obstacle course and track their reading as they go.

The Summer Reading Challenge features cards from the Youth Sport Trust and a themed book collection. The characters in the chosen books – brought to life by children’s author and illustrator Loretta Schauer – navigate a fictional summer obstacle course and track their reading as they go.

By participating in the challenge, we hope young people will take the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests. Visit your local library or click on the link below to find out more.
